Dear Kitosdad,
Thanks for the corrections on my last essay, I really appreciate it. I have this problem, I spend my too much time thinking about the perfect introduction and this often causes me get the writer's block. Take this one as an example, I spent 15 min just to formulate the first sentence, which is far from ideal. Can you give me some advice on how to deal with that?
Thanks,
Jack

Q: People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
As we are well on our way through the 21st century, university has become an increasingly popular choice among high school graduates, irrespective of ethnicity, social background or income. In my opinion, the reason why universities attract such a diverse pool of applicants is because they can accommodate so many different goals that the applicants have.
First and foremost, a university is an institution of higher education. People attend university because they want to expand their knowledge on whatever subjects they are interested in, and in the same process broaden their horizon. This is probably because humans are curious creatures, and that we look at the sky with a sense of wonder, is what separates us from the other animals. Indeed, universities quench our thirst for knowledge.
Some choose to attend university because they wanted to qualify for the occupation of their dreams and among others to guarantee them a descent living. A university provides its students a platform to learn and perfect the skills needed to perform the tasks that their future occupation requires. For example, if you wanted to become a physician, attending medical school is an obvious choice.
However, not all students are determined and know exactly what they wanted to do. The university is a place for them, too. Many attend university after high school because they are uncertain about what they want to do with their lives and by studying in a university they have the opportunity to explore the academic world, to find themselves, meet new people and live through the college experience.
You will also find increasingly more elderly members well in their 70s attending college. This is probably because the elderly wants to continue challenge their minds and prevent senile dementia, or maybe because they never had the college experience when they were young and are trying to make up for the lost time.
And then there are the rest of us, who attend college because our parents told us to.
