Hi Milanda,

Blunder in here in this sentence would mean walking into a room in such a way that you have interrupted what is going on. A blunder (the noun) is a bad mistake.

Hi, Alan.

Why not "stride" ?

(I saw in my dict. "She strode confidently into the room". I thought that if he won the prize he must have felt confidence)

Hi Lost_soul

I'd actually much prefer "strode" as the answer to this question.

To me, the word "stalked" has a negative and/or angry sense to it.
However, the Cambridge Dictionary definition is:
- to walk in an angry or proud way

Alan, is this an error in the test, or is 'stalk' used this way (as in the test) in British English?

Hi Alan

I'm still hoping for your input on this. What's your opinion?

I am confused now what’s really the correct answer, according to the explanation the correct answer is STALKED but in "show your score” it says that the correct answer is STROKE......? can you give the correct answer? but i believed that the correct answer is STALKED which means to walk in a proud way.

Here's the message that I got:
-------------------------------------
correct sentence:
Now, after he had won the coveted prize, Jason strode into the room smiling.

Correct answer: (a) strode

Your answer was: incorrect
your sentence:
Now, after he had won the coveted prize, Jason _stalked_ into the room smiling.
----------------------------

It seems like the entire test is corrupted.

Hi Torsten,
You can see the answer at http://www.english-test.net/esl/learn/english/grammar/ai103/esl-answers.php
so, I think this problem should be reviewed carefully.

2. I mean: Question 1 of this test as Beeesneees wrote: ""You are all absolutely right that strode would not make sense in this context.
I think this might be due to a typo. I wonder if the option was supposed to be strolled rather than strode?

Hopefully someone will notice this thread and correct it soon""
