Some people believe that the salaries paid to professional sportspeople are too high, while others argue that sports salaries are fair.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Nowadays sports has become a part of everybody's life. Some play it and follow it but they just cant ignore it. In some countries certain sports have become like a religion and they treat sports people like gods. Sports stars are not only earning millions by playing for the country but they can be find on TV and magazines endorsing various products. Many people are of the idea that the amount of money they earn is not justified and I strongly support this argument. My opinion is based in several reasons.

Firstly, they are not providing vital service to the nation. Many other professionals are performing more important tasks than sports professionals such as, nurses, army soldiers, teachers and scientists. However, their salaries are considerably lower with compared to the hard cash sports stars earn. For instance, kicking a ball for one hour on the field is not as important as fighting for the nation on border or helping an elderly in a hospital. Therefore, sports people are simply overpaid because of the stardom not their professional abilities.

Secondly, results have shown that after earning too much money their performance goes down. Many cricketers in my country earn by playing few matches only, which allows them to start their own businesses like restaurants, bars and many more. Consequently, their focus from cricket shifts to their respective businesses and they play for the nation just for the sake of playing not for winning. Hence, paying them high amount makes them less responsible towards the sport.

Overall, we cannot deny the importance of sports in our life but a salary scale should be introduced by the governments to justify salary according to the importance of profession.Otherwise not many people would take up jobs in hospitals, army and schools.
