Hi Bashar,
The usual choice is ache as in: earache/toothache/headache/stomachache.

Hello teacher,
I have just read your answer but I have a question. If I understand well, there is no rule about the use of the particule 'ache', it is just like that. Nonetheless, I'd like to know if someone use the word 'toothpain'?
Thanks in advance for your reply, and have a nice day. _________________ Do not hesitate to correct me. |

Hi,
In my experience 'tooth pain' would be unusual. You could say I have a pain in my tooth. 'Pain' is more general than 'ache'.

Hello Mr. Alan, Can we say that ache is always physical, i.e., related to body and pain can emotional as well? With regards, Santak Dalai |

I think that both can refer to the emotions, Santak. In fact, we would be more likely to refer to emotional pain as an 'ache'. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Hi Santak,
It depends on the part of the body. We can talk of 'heartache' in the emotional sense for example indicating emotional pain.
