Hello Alan, Mister Micawber, Beeesneees, Mordant, Esl_Expert and other native English speakers,

- Mary lives opposite to Bob.
- Mary lives opposite Bob.
- Mary lives across from Bob.

These all mean the same thing, don't they?

Hi Tofu,

This is the one I would use: Mary lives opposite Bob or Mary lives across the road from Bob. 'Opposite' as a preposition doesn't need 'to' as well.
