Hi, Arnii and Natali

Of course, I know where's Latvia and Ukraine. We are all from the former Soviet Union.
I'm thinking of getting education abroad. That's why I need English. Have you taken TOEFL, Arni.

Yea, Natali. I also think this web site is an excellent opportnutity for improvement of my skills. But to be honest, I don't know how to record a voice message. I tried, but in vain. No voice was recorded, although I have no problem with microphone :(((

I want to get a master in a European country, no matter what. The major issue is free and qualitive education. I'm 30 and I'm a journalist, but I want to change my major to public relations. It's more interesting for me.

Oh, firstly I took up learning English as a hobby - it was just for pleasure. Then I realised that I wanted to have a profession associated with foreign languages. I really set my heart on it. In fact, I had only 2 years to learn as much of it as possible, so that I could pass my entrance exams. I bent over backwards and I gained what I wanted. Nowadays I'm a 3rd year student. I study at a wonderful university and I really like it! Besides English I took up learning German and Polish.

Hi, Natali

I see you are studying something related to foreign languages in Ukraine. What major is it? I also try to study French, but by myself. I'm still beginner. It's very amusing to learn foreign language, it's a kind of discovery new world. As it is said the more languages you know the more friends you have got :) I think Polish should be easy for, because it close to Ukrainian, but German should be hard. I heard it has got complecated grammar. What level are you at?

best regards

Hi again!!
Yes, I'm studying at the department of foreign languages in one of universities. When finishing my studying I can be a teacher, a translator, or an interpreter. I took up learning German last year and I passed the exams for A1 level.
Frankly speaking, Polish isn't as easy as it seems ^_^ and I find German really hard, esp sentence structure and grammar.
Regards,
Nata

I've been studying English for 4 years. I think the best method that helps me is my persistence and determination and pleasure I get from learning it. My teacher motivated me. I read a lot, translate different articles, do grammar and vocabulary exercises, listen to English songs, watch English movies. It really helps, because you learn new words, idioms and collocations automatically. It's good when you have someone with whom you can talk in English, thus you'll practice communication skills.

Yea, you are right. Persistence and determination are keys to success. My English is n't bad, but I need to improve it urgently. I can spend on it about 3-4 hours a day, it's not enough to succed in 2-3 months. I don't know how to share this time among reading, listening, speaking and writing :( My main problem is related to listening and speaking. Unfortunately, I don't have people speaking English well around me :( I speak to myself :)

Yeah, and, by the way, it's not bad when you're speaking to yourself :) I also did so)). As for me, I usually find readings hard, not because I don't understand the words etc, but because I find it hard to get the hang of the tasks and their logics)).
