Andreana, how do you know about the Campus Martius Park Rink?

I haven't skated since I was a little kid, but where I live we don't have to drive downtown to Campus Martius, because we have local rinks in our neighborhoods. In addition to this, when it's very cold in the winter, people in my neighborhood can walk to Lake St. Clair and skate on it. Skating on the lake is more interesting, because you skate up and down on frozen waves.

One of the students in my group did an internship at Wayne State University and she gave a presentation of Detroit and in our conversation class and one thing I vividly remember is her illustration of Martius Park. She mentioned that there now is a skating rink at the park which is very popular. You are from Detroit so I though maybe you have been to Martius Park too...
By the way, another thing I remember from the presentation is that you have one of youngest mayors in the US and that Detroit was founded by the French. Actually, I can ask Julie next week what she knows about Detroit and then check that with you Wink...

Detroit was founded by the French in 1701, and many of the streets have French names. You meet people who have these surnames across the river in Windsor, Ontario, but seldom in Detroit itself. People who live on the west side of Detroit get lost on the east side. The reason is that on the west side the streets are laid out on a logical grid pattern. On the east side, they follow the perimeter of the lake and radiate out from there, which I'm told is French style.

I got my master's degree from Wayne State University (www.wayne.edu). My bachelor's degree is a BFA from the College for Creative Studies (http://www.ccscad.edu), which is a very difficult art school on the other side of the main boulevard. It is right behind the Detroit Institute of Arts (http://dia.org).

- Playing the guitar (six-string electric/acoustic), writing music, singing to myself (hehe)

- Reading: I read quite a lot of (mostly) fiction -- probably about 100ish pages per night, which might be a lot for a non-student.

- Feeding birds/squirrels (don't ask. those little buggers are cute.). It's either bread from me, or the refuse of the Dumpster.

- Video games: Currently "Call of Duty 3"

- My blog -- check it out at http://prezbucky.blogspot.com

I'm at a part in the game where I invariably end up getting drilled by a high-caliber machine gun sitting in a sort of barn or shed. There are something like three or four of these sheds, and each one has a big gun sitting in the window.

The problem (well, my excuse anyway) is that I'm nearly out of ammo and there are almost no Nazis around to kill. You must kill a Nazi to be able to pick up his gun (and ammo).

Tom! Wake up!!! It's 2007! The war is over!

Well, my hobbies are taking photos (many many photos), hiking (and taking photos), playing volleyball (very difficult to take photos during the game) and swimming (when I have enough finances maybe I manage to dive and take photos underwater).
I am very sorry to not being able to play the guitar - had no time to study, though there were people who could teach me. maybe in the future.
It seems strange why listening music is called "hobby" - i always listen to music Smile If there is no music to listen I mumble my favorite songs for myself, but the people around do not like it that much, so they have to turn normal music on!

And computer games - agh... sometimes, i still play Heroes of Might and Magic 3. Mafia is a great game
