Should higher education be available to all students? #1 (permalink) Tue Jul 13, 2010 4:42 am   Should higher education be available to all students?

Topic: Some people believe that a college or university education should be available to all students. Others believe that higher education should be available only to good students. Which view do you agree with? Explain why.

Respond:

Nowadays, more and more people strive for a place in college. They regard it as a guarantee for their future career. However, there are two opposing ideas: Some people say college should only be used for good students, while others want it accessible for all students. In my opinion, only good students should go to university in order to meet with academic requirements and save money for both the school and themselves.

First of all, higher education requires knowledge and skills. Before enrolling in a college, students must have basic knowledge about a particular subject such as math, literature, language, chemistry, with which they can easily tackle deeper knowledge. In fact, many universities make sure their students are qualified by organizing annual entrance exams. Also, skills are also strongly recommended. At college, students are exposed to a variety of tasks ranging from group discussion to presentation; therefore they should have critical thinking, reading, writing, communication skill ands other fundamental ones. Otherwise, they would face many difficulties understanding and gaining knowledge. Also, these skills and knowledge can only be accumulated in a long time with patience and hard work. Therefore, only good students can adapt to these requirements.

In addition, only brilliant or good students don't waste their money. As a matter of fact, pursuing higher education is quite costly. Tuition and expenses in a college can amount to $50,000. Therefore, students and their parents should think twice and prepare a lot before applying to a college. To help students learn to their best, universities are equipped with high-tech facilities, comfortable lecture rooms and ,indispensably, qualified teachers. They are paid not only by parents or students themselves but also by the government in case the college is state-owned. Actually/In fact, some scholarships and financial aids are offered to students with outstanding achievements by the government and many organizations which encourage them to study better and better. This may explain that although higher education demands a lot of money, good students still deserve it. Hence, if students can not study well enough, it will be a waste of money.

In conclusion, from the reasons above, universities should be out there but not for all. It’s extremely essential for students to consider whether they are capable of studying before applying to any college.

However, there are two opposing ideas: Some people say college should only be used for good students, while others want it accessible for all students. In my opinion, only good students should go to university in order to meet with academic requirements and save money for both the school and themselves.

First of all, higher education requires A MINIMUM OF knowledge and skills. Before enrolling in a college, students must have basic knowledge /about/OF/ a particular subject such as math, literature, language OR chemistry, with which they can easily /tackle/APPROACH/ deeper knowledge. In fact, many universities make sure their students are qualified by organizing annual entrance exams. Also, OTHER skills are also strongly recommended. At college, students are exposed to a variety of tasks, ranging from group discussion to presentation; therefore they should have critical thinking, reading, writing, communicationAL skill and other fundamental ones ABILITIES, otherwise they would face many difficulties understanding the TEACHINGS and IN gaining knowledge. Also, t These skills and knowledge can only be accumulated in OVER a long PERIOD OF time with patience and hard work. Therefore, only good students can ARE CAPABLE OF adaptING to these requirements.

In addition, only brilliant or good students do NOT waste their money. As a matter of fact, pursuing higher education is quite costly. Tuition and expenses in a college can amount to $50,000, therefore students and their parents should think twice and prepare a lot before applying FOR ENTRY INto a college.
To help students learn PERFORM to their best THE LIMIT OF THEIR CAPABILITIES, universities are equipped with high-tech facilities, comfortable lecture rooms and indispensably, qualified teachers.
They are ALL OF THIS IS paid FOR not only by parents or THE students themselves, but also, by the government in caseS WHERE the college is state-owned, by the government.

Actually/In fact, some scholarships and financial aids are offered freely to students with outstanding achievements by the government and many organizations which encourage them to study. better and better.
This may explain that although higher education demand COSTS a lot of money, good students WHO DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES, still deserve it.
Hence, if students cannot ARE INCAPABLE OF studyING well enough, it will be a waste of money.

In conclusion, from the reasons above, universities should be /out there/ACCESSIBLE/ but not for all.
It’s extremely IT IS essential THAT students consider whether they are REALLY capable of studying before applying FOR ENTRY to any college.

Good morning Hienoncemore. More concentration, and a greater flexibility in your use of vocabulary are needed. Your opinions are fine, but you need to learn to express them better.
