The test results do not tally with what the theory suggests
The test results do not square with what the theory suggests
The test results do not fit with what the theory suggests

Hi OTS,

The meaning of all the sentences suggests dichotomy between results and theory. In that sense they all work. My only query would be over 'tally' which to me has numerical flavour about it and that doesn't immediately work for me when contrasting results and theory.
