Hi,

Could you tell me if the following usage of the word "catching" sounds normal:

That there is a mighty sick uncle! Look at that face, it's green, covered with little red spots too. I wonder if he's catching

I used the word "catching" to mean "infectious". Is that right?

That's correct. I'd say 'I wonder if it's (whatever he seems to be suffering from) catching?' rather than 'he's catching' which I find a little odd.
