I think that of a different view is correct, but I don't think of a differing view is. What do you think?

Either is correct. That the proper adjective is used so commonly here does not make the participle incorrect. It still follows the traditional pattern of English.

To me 'of a different view' is somewhat ambiguous and I would offer 'of a different opinion.'
