Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Grades encourage students to learn.
Having spent seventeen years studying in different schools, I know how the grade system works and which is his purpose WHAT ITS PURPOSE IS. I think students are encouraged to learn if they are evaluated through grades. First, because a grade shows to a student which is his learning level and how much he can improve it. In addition, a student wants to learn more to get A high grade to win the competition against the other students.
First, a grade puts a student in a precise position. For example, if a student is given a medium grade, it means that he is not so good in his studies. In most cases, a student having this level would MAKE all possible efforts in order to learn more to get a better grade and consequently, to become satisfied from this good result. When I studied at university, I did not get high grades in the first exams. Therefore, I was not satisfied WITH my way of studying. So, I improved my grades in the following exams and I BECAME proud of myself.
Furthermore, a grade plays a role within a classroom. In many cases, students feel competition among them. For this reason, each of them is stimulated to learn in order to get the best grade. The one who has the highest grade is respected from classmates and is treated like a boss. In my personal experience, I competed with my classmates in Latin examinations in order to get the highest grade and be admired BY the others . I was therefore stimulated to learn.
In conclusion, I think a grade is a stimulus for students to learn. It puts a student in a specific position in a ranking and it also an important factor within a classroom. When I was a student I MADE many efforts to improve my learning level and I liked to compete against the other classmates in order to get the best grade. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: That is much better David, Let's see you keep it up now.
