Subject : News editors decide what to broadcast on television and what to print in newspapers. What factors do you think influence these decisions? Do we become used to bad news? Would it be better if more good news was reported?
It’s the time for editors to broadcast on television and print in newspapers, but how can it be done? A huge task has been given to the news reporters in a vast universe overwhelming with upcoming events. Always they are surrounded with many news all over the universe, about people, places, animals, etc. Now what is the role of editors, how they report the news, do they report good news or bad news? But the news are not always good or bad only in the nature, there are various types of news that must be reported. Then, do you think that an editor must report any good news or bad one? There are several answers regard to this question. At first it maybe suggested that it’s better to report good news. Secondly, the editor can divided the news to two groups and report the good news first. But at the end it is plausible to say that all the existing news must be reported. First of all maybe almost all people assert that good news is the best, and it is joyful to hear good news only. They think having good news every day give them good feeling and make them calm, just think that you start your day with a series of good news, then you will have a nice feeling during your work day. But unfortunately good news does not exist and might not available very time and everywhere. Secondly, it said that the news could be divided to two groups, the editor can start with most of good news and continues with bad news. Then in this way, an important question arises, that what do we actually mean by good news and bad news? These concepts may have many different meanings for different persons. The attitude of different people are different toward bad or good news, suppose that an editor reports that many people died because of starvation, or the local banks will be broken during next 3 months, then what do you think are they bad or good? At the first glance it seems that they are bad, of course all people feel sad for the first one, but what do you think about the second one? It is different for different people, may be it will be bad for a businessman that has a lot of credit in those banks, but it doesn’t make any difference for an ordinary or poor people that have not any kinds of account. Now, what about good news, the matter is the same as in the bad news, for example, if the television forcasts that the weather will be snowy tomorrow, what do u think, is it good or bad? It seems that by hearing this news, all children are excited, but is the matter same for a worker that work in the building for instance?! Consequently the editor can’t divide the news to groups because of its relativity. Finally it is said that it doesn’t matter if the news is good or bad but all of them must be reported in order of importance. Imagine that you only aware of good news everyday and don’t care about bad news. Do you think it is possible? Actually the real situation doesn’t differ whether you want to hear bad news or not, the fact is they exist and you can’t neglect them. So you as a human being must be aware of all news even bad news, it is necessary for living in the real world. To sum up, editors should report all the existing news whether good or bad, because people must be aware of the all happens and events in their around world, we can’t live in the world of ignorance. All the people with their bad and good news create the world so they must know all things, in fact this is not an imaginary world that someone wants to live with only good news or even bad news, the real life is the mixture of both. But in this realm editors could report the news in the way that the viewers or readers don’t feel embaressed or nervous, actually this depends on the talent of that editor. |
