Hi, it seems that the expression to have staked the farm on one card is an idiom. Is that right? From the context I've seen the expression in I suppose its meaning is similar to put all your eggs in one basket. Am I right?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Right you are. To stake the farm on = to gamble everything one owns on. The image is of a landowner using the deed to his property as collateral for a bet.

You can also often hear "bet the farm on..."

A: "I think this project will be really successful."
B: "Well, don't bet the farm on it. The project's got a lot of things wrong with it."
