the red 's' is a possessive case and the blue 's' is a short form.

e.g. She's my Doctor. She's a Doctor. See the difference how 'my' and 'a' used.

Hello Torsten,
I've just read the short text, and I find that the blue 's' means 'is', and the red ones mean possessive.
By the way, the test about modal verbs has just finished, I scored a maximun mark. Very Happy

Mr Torsten,
I've made a mistake in my message. I must type "The test has just been finished". This sentence must be in passive. That's right, isn't it?

The "possessive s" Tue Jul 22, 2008 23:46 pm  The "possessive s"

Dear Torsten, all teachers and learners.

I think the «s» is sometimes red because it is the possessive "s" and the «s» is sometimes blue because it is the short form of is.

Best regards.

Hello Torsten,
I'm once more I'm happy to write these few lines to make you sign that the lesson was a success to me. I've just answered to the test and had 9 out of 10 that's to say I'm quite efficient on this kind of tests. About possessives, I'm greatly happy to have mastered them and still need your help about some more exercices for my wellfare.
Best Regards !!!

Hello Mr. Torsten,
Thank you for your lessons.
I've finished the exercise about the articles, and it is so easy for me. I get 10/10 correct answers.
I also thank you for the reminder. I should practise E more regularly, I know. And I'm trying to do like that.
Thank you once more.

possessives..!Hello..!* Fri Jul 25, 2008 21:00 pm  possessives..!Hello..!*

I think they are used to say that one person or thing belongs to another or it is connected to another where the apostrophe s(´s) works as a contraction.
