Hi everybody,
In the above given text:
The "s" in red shows the possesive case e.g. Maria's younger brother is a student of doctorate. That means that Maria has a younger brother who is studying in Phd.
While the "s" in blue is a short form of helping verb is. e.g. He's a doctor and runs his private clinic. Here he's means he is.

Thanks
Maratab Ali

dear torsten I realy agree
I think the blue ones are abbreviated versions of
he is --> becomes he's
she is --> becomes she's

the red ones show that you have to add -'s to build genitive forms, possessives

f.e.: the boy's father is working for the government.

I hope there's (there is) no error involved in naufragis' examples

Hi Torsten, my name is Lubos Cechvala and Iīm from Slovakia. English is my third language, my second foreign language after German. This year I will do my school leaving exam in English and therefore I have to do as many exercises as possible to be successful in it. I find your lessons very useful for me. I didnīt score in the tests very high,probably, I overrated myself. As I see I have big gaps in grammar and, particularly, in listening. When I watch a film in English I simply canīt understand many of those words, although, I know them. Therefore, I really appreciate Sueīs listeninig exercises I hope itīll gradually help me with understanding more and more words while watching english films..
I really thank you for your lessons,
best regards Lubos

The red s is possessive that defines the next noun.
The blue s is the abbreviation of be-verb.

The s on husband, daughter, and Sarah shows possession of name and boyfriend, while the s on he and she, represents is.

Because sometimes is to said is but not write it and sometimes is to say is belong to or else is relative to the person that we are talking about.
