When "s" is red indicates the saxon genitive; when is blue indicates the short form of the verb to be. Ciao

Hi, Torsen
You used a very good text to make clear the distinction between red s and the blue s.
Red s means the possessive and the bue s is actually the verb to be.

Good morning, :-)

It`s a lovely day, isn`t it?

I think the possessive`s «s» is red , while the blue one is a contracted form of the verb to be.
I hope I am ready for the Simple Present which I will learn in Unit 7. ;-)

Hello everybody,
Red one is for possessive "s" and blue one is for short form of is.
For example Ria is Maria's step daughter. ( possessive 's').
She's studying in st. Xevier's collage. ( short form of is).

Mr. Torsten,
The red 's' refers to possessive, and blue 's' refers to noun or pronoun contraction for 'is' (third singular person of verb to be, present indicative). But this contraction can occur also for third singular person of verb to have, present indicative, isn't it? By the way, what is the right, 'contraction for' or 'contraction with'?
