confusion in regard to use of verb #1 (permalink) Thu Jul 22, 2010 6:27 am   confusion in regard to use of verb

Sir

'School will remain closed' and 'School will remain open'. Why open not opened.

Another question about infinitive verb, such as to see, to play, etc. But why it is - ' I look forward to hearing from you. 'After the accident, he is limited to using this chair'.

Kindly explain.

Regards,

"Closed" and "open" are adjectives.

The phrase "I look forward to" is followed by a noun so the gerund 'hearing' is a noun, not a verb. The same holds true for the phrase 'limited to'.
