I would llike to know what the function of the phrase compared with in the following sentence is:
The joy of the tour is mild compared with silent pray.

This is really a short form of when it is compared with and it means in effect when you compare it with.

You said it comes from when it is compared with so we omit when it is, right?
I think we can omit only it is in that sentence so the sentence could be the joy of the tour is mild when compared with silent pray.
