Whenever you want to use a countable noun use " tip " otherwise use " advice ".

google dictionary:
9.A tip is a useful piece of advice. Noun (countable)
■It shows how to prepare a CV, and gives tips on applying for jobs.
■...tips for busy managers.
■A good tip is to buy the most expensive lens you can afford.

1.If you give someone advice, you tell them what you think they should do in a particular situation. Noun (uncountable)
■Don't be afraid to ask for advice about ordering the meal.
■Your community officer can give you advice on how to prevent crime in your area.
■Take my advice and stay away from him!
■Most foreign nationals have now left the country on the advice of their governments.
