Hi, Kitos. Please, look at my essay. Thank you
In this set of materials the reading passage provides general information about the education system in the USA, while the listening passage describes gaps in the system.
According to the reading passage, US schools are organized similarly to European schools, where students start their education at the age of 6 and are separated into grades according to their ages. There are 12 grades and three levels. Primary includes 1-5 grades, intermediate – 6-9 and high – 9-12. At primary level children are taught by one teacher. Pupils of intermediate and high grades take classes from a group of teachers. Pupils successfully completed 12th grade are eligible to get a high school diploma.
In the listening passage the lecturer talks about blanks in the education system. According to him, schools do not take into account the difference in the readiness of children to study from social, physical and mental points of view. Boys and girls mature at different ages, but they attend the same classes. Furthermore, slow pupils need more time to grasp material, while fast ones are bored and strive for going ahead. In addition, children are graded in accordance with group expectations rather than individually. Therefore, the system needs reviewing.
To sum up, the listening passage supplements the material given in the reading passages with disadvantages of the current education system.
