Hi Goran,
If you mean life in general, you would have no article as in this sentence. If you talk about a particular kind of life, you use the article as in:
The life of a child in the 21st century is entirely different from that of the 19th century.

'Today's life' sounds odd to me and I would use 'Life today'.
