use of "right/left"

Hello,

Which sentences are correct?

1. I turned left at the intersection (not a left).
2. I hooked a left at the intersection (not just left).
3. I swung a left at the intersection (not just left).

Am I right as to the use of articles in my sentences (nothing in 1, a in 2 and 3)?

I would removed the article from all of those sentences.

The only case where I would use the article would be, "I made a left at the intersection."
