Can the phrase "I come from somewhere" be used instead of the phrase "I am from somewhere"?
My answer is "No". Am I right?

They are the same, but the trouble is that they're both ambiguous. lol They can refer to place of origin or where you live currently.

Hi Richard,

I always thought the two are equivalent, but tend to use I come from more, just because I live in a foreign country. For this reason it sounds clearer to me somehow, that my country of origin is a different one from the one I live in.

:-)
