"How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The author's statement consists of two sentences: the first is that the extent of socialization of children determines the future of society; the second is that we do not know yet how to raise the children who could help bring about a better society. But, noticing that when the author states the second sentence he put a word "unfortunately" before, obviously we could conclude that in the logic of the author, the first sentence is a prerequisite for the second. That is to say, we could understand the two sentences as cause-effect relationship. Namely only if premise is established, then result is founded. In my opinion, the first sentence is correct, because it demonstrate a truth that is found in most cases. However the conclusion based on the first, the second, is unwarranted. Because it is too arbitrary and lacks evidences supporting. The reasons are stated as follow.

First of all, we could simply understand the extent of socialization as the capacity of communicating with others. Why do I say so? Because the essence of society is communication and only through constant communication could society make progress. In other words, sociability is a very significant sign of socialization. Consider, for example, it was Spanish powerful navy, which highly improved their ability of interacting with the outside world(but Spain overused it), that built up Spain Empire in the 16th century. So after understanding the essence of socialization, we might ask: why it is socialization of children rather than adults that determines the future of society? As is known to all, children are the next generation so the stage of future belongs to them. But adults only destine to dominate the present. Therefore, the socialization of children should be attached much importance.

Now turning to the second sentence, if the author's assertion that we do not know the methods to raise the children who could help bring about better society is correct, so what does science, history, and civilization matter? This claim is apparently too irrational, ignoring the progress that has been made in each corner of the development of human. In fact, what is really happening in the world now is that people are becoming better at raising such potential children: more universities are built everywhere; more students are enrolled regardless of their race and familiy condition; more achievement in every aspect of human life are accomplished. Everything around us, without exception, indicates that next generations are becoming more confident, clever, and sociable. Judging from this, we obviously cannot agree with the author's contention. In sum, if the author wants to make the conclusion more logically sound, he has to provide more evidence supporting the argument.

Through above discussion, I think that the premise of the statement (the first sentence) is tenable, but the conclusion (the second sentence)is invalid. The socialization of children, to a large extent, determines the future of society, but we also have to focus more on other aspects, such as effective use of energy, long term steady international environment and ecological conservation. In addition, we must not only improve our education to next generation, but also enhance the overall quality of adults.

In my opinion, the first sentence is correct, because it demonstrate a truth that is found in most cases. However the conclusion based on the first, the second, is unwarranted(,) because it is too arbitrary and lacks evidences supporting evidence. The reasons are stated as followING.

First of all, we could simply understand the extent of socialization as the capacity of communicating with others. Why do I say so? Because the essence of society is communication(,) and only through constant communication /could/CAN/ society make progress. In other words, sociability is a very significant sign of socialization. Consider, for example, it was SPAINS powerful navy THAT highly improved their ability TO interact with the outside world(but Spain overused it), that built up THE SPANISH Empire in the 16th century. So a After understanding the essence of socialization, we might ask: why IT IS THE socialization of children rather than adults that determines the future of society? As is known to all, children are the next generation(,) so the stage of THE future belongs to them. But Adults only destine to dominate the present(,) therefore /the socialization of children should be attached much importance./MUCH MORE IMPORTANCE SHOULD BE ATTACHED TO THE SOCIALIZATION OF CHILDREN

Now turning to the second sentence, if the author's assertion that we do not know the CORRECT AND PROPER methods OF raisING children who could help bring about better society is correct, so what DO science, history, and civilization matter? This claim is apparently too irrational, ignoring the progress that has been made in each corner of the development of humanS. In fact, what is really happening in the world now is that people are becoming better at raising CHILDREN WITH such potential. children: More universities are BEING built everywhere; more students are enrolled regardless of their race and family /condition/CIRCUMSTANCES/; more achievementS in every aspect of human life are accomplished. Everything around us, without exception, indicates that next generations are becoming more confident, clever, and sociable. Judging from this, we obviously cannot agree with the author's contention.

In sum, if the author wants to make the conclusion more logically sound, he has to provide more evidence supporting the argument.
