Hi,
When you use 'the other', you have to refer to it in advance when you are talking about two things as in: There are two houses in the road, one has three bedrooms and the other has five.
'Another' simply means one additional thing/one extra thing and can refer to any number of things as in: There are several houses in the road, one is detached, one is semi-detached, one is terraced and another is a bungalow.

I think uses " other" could be acceptable before singular and plural nouns, but " another" could only before singular. e.g. another idea , another person, another one, another girl , anothe kinship friend, another meeting. another engineer. other person, other idea, other friends, other teachers. other engineers. note: idea treat as singular _________________ MMA |
