Should governments spend more money on improving roads and highways, or should governments spend more money on improving public transportation (buses, trains, subways)? Why? Use specific reasons and details to develop your essay.

To invest more in roads and highways or in public transportation by the governments is still a debatable issue in every country. Some people think that governments should spend more money on public transportation because it has a quick effect on the traffic safety. Nevertheless, I strongly believe that improving transportation infrastructure is the best idea in long run for the following reasons: traffic safety, social economic benefits, and capital insufficiency.

First of all, better roads and highways make driving become safer with everyone and with the society, for accidents have less probability of happening and fewer traffic jams. Some researchers have been approved that the number of accidents in Europe is lower than that in the South East Asia, what is the most visible advantage of high quality roads. Besides, fewer traffic jams means less exhaust from vehicles, which helps reduce carbon monoxide in the ozone layer.

In addition to enhancing traffic safety, improving transportation infrastructure also offers substantial economic benefits. As roads and highways become better, social resources are no longer wasted because people can spend less time on driving and save money for gasoline and vehicle maintenance. Moreover, international investors are attracted to markets which are built upon a good traffic infrastructure. Furthermore, the required work to improve roads and highways creates jobs in building industry.

Last but not least, roads and highways should be invested by the government for the conflict of interests between private investors and the public. The requisite capital for transportation contruction is so large that it usually exceeds the private’s funding ability. So that taxes are used in this situation for contribution helps advance people awareness of public assets, as for roads and highways. In addition, that it is impossible to charge a high fee on using these infrastructure while construction is time consuming makes the profitability undesired.

In conclusion, governments should put more resources in to improve transportation infrastructure, hence make it safer to drive, boost the economy in long-run and balance social benefits.

You started off so well, and then lost control of your vocabulary. This should have been a lot better. However, you tried hard.
Your conclusion is one of the most important parts of your essay. It can neutralise many small errors in the previous work. Always concentrate fully on your conclusion. Get that right and your essay will be more than acceptable.

I think this is not a suitable solution for the government to spend money on improving roads and highways. How many roads and highways can be built? It is important for people to learn that each person should not drive by his/her own car with four additional blank seats. They can use public transportation so that more number of people can transport with one car. If they do this, we will not have so many crowded roads and highways. But how people will be engaged to use public transportation? Obviously, more number of modern and clean transport vehicles can do that. So, I think it is better that the government spend money on improving public transportation instead of improving roads and highways.

I believe that the private section can improve public transportation. In a competitive market, many entrepreneurs will join the delivery industry and the service's quality (number of vehicle available, quality of vehicle, quality of additional services...) will get better, which is the result of the competition between them. But we need good roads because the private owners can't bring us good services if roads and highways are too bad (the fact is roads get worse over time, right?). Only the government is affordable for the investment on roads and highways.
