Given how long ago these posts were put up, my advice is probably long overdue (if it is even useful in the first place). I don't know of any study aids with non-Barron's words except for one -- Nova's, which I never used. I took the GRE three days ago and got 790 Verbal and 740 Quant (and still waiting for the essay scores).
I found that memorizing all the words (including secondary meanings) in the 3500-word Barron's list helped me enormously. There really were not too many words on the real exam that were not in Barron's (but perhaps I just got lucky). I also found that jotting down unfamiliar words from newspapers, journals, magazines, etc. helped me. I still have a pile of almost 4,000 flashcards of words I never knew before or would only be able to determine from context (a luxury the testtaker cannot afford when confronted with Analogy and Antonym questions). I probably went overboard with my Verbal preparation, but I suppose you're better safe than sorry with these useless, boring tests.
Good luck if you haven't taken the test yet!

Here's the best GRE word list I've ever seen. It includes all of Barron's list and more: total 6,500 words! It's also pretty nice to use, and FREE. The URL is

Hello,
There are 4 hit parades each have 75 words that r most usualy asked in the exam. Refer "The Princeton Review - Cracking the GRE 2006 Edition". Additional there ate 2 other list that one can refer.
I was looking at this website http://wordlist.gredic.com/hotlist.html as mentioned by one of the member and I see pretty much the same words.
Thanks, JURA |

Well, http://wordlist.gredic.com uses Princeton Review as one of the sources so...
But what are the 3 other hit parades? Can you give URLs? |
