Thanks for pointing this out. Upon inspection it turns out that there are several more errors in the questions in this test.
They have been corrected now, but unfortunately the corrections will not be reflected on the site until the next database refresh. _________________ Cheers m' dears! |

Hello,
I do not understand the part of speech "being" in this sentence "Its meaning being that the person is rather absurd and lacks common sense".
Is it another way of saying "is"? In other words, the sentence is "Its meaning is that the person is rather absurd and lacks common sense".
Could you please explain it?
Thank you.
Best wishes, Bhikkhu1991a. |

Hello,
For your information, the phrase “its meaning being that the person is rather absurd and lacks common sense” is actually an absolute phrase. Therefore, it should be placed inside the first sentence:
One of the greatest insults a person can be called is that of being a "Dodo bird", its meaning being that the person is rather absurd and lacks common sense.
Please note that there is a comma between “Dodo bird” and “its meaning being that …”.
Could you please look into it?
Thank you.
