Advertisements targeting children aged between 2 and 5 should be banned #1 (permalink) Fri Aug 13, 2010 17:24 pm   Advertisements targeting children aged between 2 and 5 should be banned

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:
Advertisements targeting children aged between 2 and 5 should be banned.

Advertisements, which is an important vehicle in this commercialized society, are deeply influencing every one /individual in every aspect. If advertisements which are aimed at little kids do not be absolutely forbidden/prohibited, the unpredictable huge adverse effects will ensue.

Advertisements have negative impacts in kids' mental and psychological development. To be more appealing/captivating, advertisements generally utilize some exaggerated and unobjective descriptions. They constantly advocate/disseminate that using their productions will render those users stronger or wiser. Due to such young age, kids are not able to distinguish/discern they and be more susceptible to advertisements. They tend to believe that a commercial production can make themselves better readily and quickly. These misconceptions will spur kids' unreasonable material needs. Worse yet, they would like to spend money on achieving their goals, rather than dedicate time and efforts to pursue their dreams.

Strange as it may seem, advertisements also spoil the interrelationship of family member. When kids are watching advertisements which may include potential adverse effects, their parents are attempting to tell them they reasonable and objective views. Unfortunately, sometimes, kids are tired of their parents' instruction. Ironically, they have to call for money from their parents time and time again. The behaviour will definitely hurt their relationship.

Besides, advertisements which target young children will modify and even reverse social moral. Accompanying these temptations of advertisements, kids will become more and more desirous of money. When they grow up, they would be such a kind of creatures which are fanatical of money but nothing. Kindness, justice, friendship are supposed to be locked into historical books. This really destroy our social moral and eventually disorder/disturb the social order.

In conclusion, advertisements should keep away from young children. Kids need a better cultural atmosphere which is not be contaminated/polluted by excessive/exorbitant commercialization. It not just benefit kids and their family, but the whole society as well.
