Topic: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Technological progress has made us lazy.
High technology has become a vital part of our daily lives. It enables people to do tasks and finish them in seconds, and more easily. However, many people think that people are more dependent on technology, and have become lazier due to advanced technology's help. In my opinion, it is not technological progress that makes us idler, and on the contrary, it is technology that enables people to work harder not only physically but also mentally.
To begin with, advanced machines have given people a great opportunity to spend more time working physically on their favorite activities. For example, as parents, nowadays, can finish their tasks, such as doing chores, cooking, and washing clothes in a few minutes with help of technology such as vacuum cleaners, and washing machines, parents have more time to spend on their children, playing with them and helping them study. Moreover, technological progress encourages people to spend time working on, and be interested in previously boring things. With help of microwaves, electric stoves, cooking, for many people, is no longer a boring task, as they can easily cook delicious meals for their families. Similarly, body building has also become more enjoyable, as now we do exercise with body building machines.
Furthermore, technological progress provides us with an easy access to huge sources of information, which requires our minds to work harder in order to analyses, and receive good information. We have not only the Internet as the world biggest source of information but also television and radio which enable us to receive information around the world just in seconds. Our brains have to work harder to process, and understand the information. Moreover, as there are various sources of information, it is necessary that we have to analyses, and be selective in order to receive useful information.
For all the reasons above, I believe that advanced technology has made people inclined to work harder not only physically but also mentally. It enables people to spend more time on their favorite activities, and receive various sources of information.
