A serious and strict teacher or a teacher with humor and is easygoing. #1 (permalink) Sun Aug 15, 2010 3:31 am   A serious and strict teacher or a teacher with humor and is easygoing.

Do you agree or disagree a serious and strict teacher is more effective than a teacher with humor and is easygoing.

In China, the pressure of the examination from high school to universities is increasing every year, so for the sake of making students get a good grade in this examination teachers are becoming so strict that they could push their students to study hard. However I don’t believe it will work.

At first, students are more likely to talk to a humorous and easygoing person. It is difficult for students to get close and open their heart to a serious and strict person. The seriousness and strictness are apt to form a invisible wall between teacher and students, thus because of the lack of communication teacher cannot help all the problem in students’ studying process. In my high school, our chemistry teacher was a serious and strict woman. Almost in every class she spoke highly of the students who did well in the chemistry whereas criticized the students who didn’t. A serious and strict attitude is always given to the students who are not good at chemistry. As we know there are only usually three or four excellent students in a class. Her attitude hurt us, we don’t like to ask her question and talk to her. This prevents us from learning chemistry better a lot. Such examples are many. If a teacher is humorous and easygoing, students will not fear when talk with him/her, tell their teacher problems.

On the other hand, a humorous and easygoing teacher can eliminate the generation gap with students. We juveniles feel distant between us and the people who are more than ten years older than us, we think they cannot understand us. A serious and strict teacher widens the gap. But if a teacher is humorous and easygoing, he could shorten the distance between them, hence students are likely to treat him/her as a good friend, let their teacher help with their problems. This is critical to the young generation education.

However, strictness can guarantee that students finish their work on time and abide by the discipline. When I was in high school I was late for school almost every morning, but since we had a new teacher who is strict, I dared not to be late any more. Except for his strictness and seriousness to our study and discipline, he behaved very kind and nice to us after class and loved us as his own children, so we still considered him as a good friend.

To sum up, a strict and serious teacher is usually difficult to be communicated for students whereas a humorous and easygoing is not, but if only a teacher know it well that when to be harsh and when to be kind then students will benefit fabulously from their teacher.

Good morning Frankie. This was an intelligent essay but you lost your concentration.

" our chemistry teacher was " ... You need to note that the "was" in this sentence changed the tense of the whole sentence.

I would have liked to grade you higher, but you made too many simple errors in an otherwise excellent essay.

Kitos. 8/10
