Topic. Which system do you favor for measuring students’ progress – final examinations or continuous assessment? Give your reasons.
For IN many schools, students’ studies are evaluated by final examinations, while, for many other schools, students’ studies are assessed by continuous tests and exams during the school year. For several reasons that I am going to show below, I believe that continuous assessment is the more favorable way of evaluating students’ study progress.
First of all, continuous small tests and exams during the school year do not put students under as great A pressure as final examinationS at the end of each semester. do. For continuous assessment, students’ poor marks can be supported by many of their good marks during their school year. Whereas, for evaluation based on final exams, a low mark can spoil their efforts and hard work during the year. Besides, Pressure that students have to suffer during the test can also badly affect their work and test results.
Secondly, final exams at the end of each semester (cannot) precisely evaluate students’ study progress, while continuous assessment can. Since the time allowed and the number of questions in each of the final exams IS limited, the test cannot cover all of the knowledge that students have acquired. On the contrary, each small test at the end of each class can exactly test students’ understanding of the lesson, and thus can evaluate students’ progress and show students’ improvement more correctly.
Finally, continuous assessment helps students be aware of their ability, studies, and progress so that they can improve their grades by focusing on their weakness. Tests at the end of each lesson help student know whether they have understood fully or not. If they do not understand or need deeper explanation for the lesson, they can ask their teachers immediately or discuss with other students right away.
For all the reasons above, there is no doubt that continuous assessment is the best way for schools and teachers to evaluate their students’ study progress. It not only precisely evaluates students’ studies but also helps students improve their grades. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: An excellent essay Alive. You ought to be proud of yourself. OK, I'll give you your due.
