Why would someone go with adding them knowing that they are toxic and can also get themselves into some legal or whatever trouble?

I have substituted 'or whatever' for any other kind of trouble besides legal I don't have name or description for. Is my choice correct? Please let me know.

Hi,

I think this needs rewording:

Why would ANYONE AGREE TO adding them knowing that they are toxic and also KNOWING THAT THEY CAN get themselves into some legal or OTHER KIND OF trouble?
