Hi,

Which sentences are right?

1.1. I had to ask him a favor.
1.2. I had to ask him for a favor.

2.1. How to ask a favor.
2.2. How to ask for a favor.

Thanks!

Hi Dean,

Both 1.1 and 1.2 are fine.

Neither 2.1 nor 2.2 is a complete sentence. Both are fragments. However, they could be used as titles, for example.
