Hi everyone,
please help me with the following sentence:

"Georgia periodically wants to impress its credentials on the West".

What does "impress credentials" mean? I looked in a dictionary, but it didn't help..

In this case this means 'to make the West believe in Georgia's righteousness and/or competence.'

Please remember that this is journalists' language. People rarely talk like this. But it's good to know.

Hope this helps,

Phil
