Hi,

'We'd like to acknowledge with thanks the receipt of your enquiry and appreciate your interest in the X line we have in stock.'

I think the bold part in the sentence above should be crossed out because basically the writer means they acknowledge the enquiry, not the receipt of the enquiry, right? And if that part is crossed out, the sentence should be 'We acknowledge your enquiry with thanks'. Do you agree?

It is trying to be too formal and ends up being awkward. Simple is best.
