Hi,
I believe it is a common phrase in the American movies and it's just another way of saying:
I bet you ten bucks that he won't get to work on time today.
I guess it is natural then, since the Americans use it.

It's quite natural, but it can involve any amount of money or any possession.
"My next paycheck says you can't finish it." "This bike says you'll never win." |

Thank you, I didn't know it could involve any amount of money or any possession for that matter, I thought it was confined to the ten bucks. Hehe That's one funny-looking idiom. _________________ If it's not easy, don't do it!

I may be wrong, but I don't think that can be called an idiom. (People can bet any amount of money they choose to, can't they?) _________________ Just remember... if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off! |
