Are the both sentences correct as interrogative statements?

1 - What differentiates expensive cuts from cheaper ones?
2 - What does differentiate expensive cuts from cheaper ones?

What differentiates expensive cuts from cheaper ones? #2 (permalink) Tue Aug 31, 2010 7:41 am   What differentiates expensive cuts from cheaper ones?

The first example is the most commonly correct one, Jackson.

The second is possible, but only where you wish to emphasise the question. For example:

"You are wrong. That's not the difference between cheap and expensive cuts."
"Well then, what does differentiate expensive cuts from cheaper ones?"
