It is more important to have rules about the types of clothing #1 (permalink) Thu Sep 02, 2010 14:49 pm   It is more important to have rules about the types of clothing

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:
It is more important to have rules about the types of clothing that people wear at work and at school.

Nowadays, the increasing number of enterprises and schools are attempting to regulate the clothing of their employees or students. However, I strongly believe that the free outfit should be encouraged, because it's more convenient and more comfortable, it offer a good avenue towards sociality, and it's more economical.

Obviously, personal clothing is more comfortable and convenient. When we go to shop, we only pick out these clothes which make us feel comfortable. However, the clothing offered by companies or schools seems no such demand, the important functions of it may be just to show the company's or the school's name and to attract more attention form public. Besides, it is troublesome. As it is compulsory/mandatory, people have to prepare it every night. If it have been dirty or spoiled, you must wash or repair it immediately.

Also, personal clothing has the sociable purpose, because it offer an opportunity to express your status, mood, taste, etc., and acquire/obtain the same information form others. For example, generally speaking, when an adolescent aspire to exhibit herself/himself and to attract more peers, she/he would like to wear some colourful and appealing clothing, which may attract a great deal of talking form peers efficiently. Even in the workplace, the personal clothing is also helpful. From one's own dress, colleagues can speculate the one's work-style and mood, which is highly helpful to collaboration and communication.

Being economical should be another reason for supporting personal clothing. To standardize clothing, organizations have to dedicate much money to designing and manufacturing clothing. More than that, they have to devote much time and efforts to check their employees' or students' clothing. Likewise, individuals reluctantly have to spend time and money on washing or repairing their standard clothing, even if it's neither comfortable nor pretty.

Needless to say, regular clothing make no sense. From the advantages of personal clothing we have discussed above, we can certainly draw the conclusion that the individual clothing is more beneficial for both individuals and organizations, thus, it should be widely accepted and adopted.
