Hello,

I've been wondering, can I use "in association with" in the following way:

#1 He did research into the subject matter in association with his professor.
#2 The crime is being investigated by a private eye in association with the local police.

By "in association with" I mean "with the help from".

Hi OTS,

To my mind 'in association with' does indeed suggest 'with help from' but I would use it more with reference to organisations, bodies, authorities and so on. For that reason
Quote:
in association with the local police
seems appropriate. In your first sentence
Quote:
in association with his professor,
you are talking about an individual (the professor) and in that case I would use 'in collaboration with'.
