"know" vs "know about" #1 (permalink) Thu Feb 02, 2006 23:09 pm   "know" vs "know about"

Is there a difference between knowing something or knowing about something?

Specifically: Is this sentence correct: "I never really knew about Amway until this exchange"?

If it if correct: does it meant that "I knew nothing about Amway" or "I never heard about Amway" or "I heard about Amway before but I never knew much about it"?

Thanks

The sentence can mean any of the things you mentioned.
