Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expressions in bold in the following sentences?

Chancellor takes threat in stride

in stride = without losing equilibrium

to take something. in one's stride = calmly asking for trouble, mistakes

Mother took everything in her stride, a kind, consistently calm woman. = Mom to all takes it easy - it was good, cool woman.

He took the news / criticism in his stride. - He took the news / criticism calmly.

Thank you for your efforts
