The big problem of course is that if you are looking for glasses and you're not actually carrying any.

Technically, you could argue that "carrying" is acceptable grammatically, but "carrying" implies holding something in your hands, or perhaps on your back, which is not normally done with eyeglasses. People "wear" their glasses, so the use of "carry" in this sentence is not the best choice.
