1.Her brother is a criminal and she visits him in prison.-Correct.
Please tell me why the above sentence it's correct. She is not a criminal...
Souldn't be: the prison, bacause she is not in prison but she visits there her brother who is in prison.

He committed the crime so he is in prison. But:
Patrick's mother went to the prison to see her son.

2. We write: in solitary confinement, like in prison, without : the, for criminals being there?

1.- 'In prison': like 'at home', 'in school', 'at church'. Your points are not relevant.

2. We write: in solitary confinement, like in prison, without : the, for criminals being there?-- No. We write it like we write 'at home'.

Of course I know the difference; it is you who cannot recognize it. The man was in prison and she visited him there.
