Since I wanna communicate with somebody else, I PM Torsten & Alan. But I didn't realize that they're so busy, so, T & A, sorry for that.
I am a student pursuing a Master Degree, majoring in Automative Engineering. I'm interested in different languages & different cultures. I learn English and little German. And now I'm preparing for TOEIC.
That's something about me.
Regards

Hi rEDgHOST,

You can always communicate with us here on the forum. It's interesting to hear that you are obtaining a degree an automative engineering and preparing for the TOEIC at the same time. Could you please tell us more about your study program? What university are you at? I remember you telling us that you are from China. China is a vast country, where exactly do you live? You can also tell us more about how you have learned English. I'm asking all these questions because a lot of our forum users read these discussions.
Regards
Torsten

Torsten, thank you for your reply.
I know that if I didn't log in it would appear as'guest', but I did log in last time. I guess there may some problems with my Internet.
I'd like to tell you something more about me.
My subject is regarding IC Engine, Electronic test & control. I'm studying in BUAA, short for Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics. But there's something interesting, our offical English name is Beihang University. The website is www.buaa.edu.cn. Here you can find more about our Uni. I was born in Beijing, I've lived here for 24 years.
Can you tell me something about you? I guess you're a German, right?
Nowadays, I find that using a English-English dictionary is very helpful in learning English. It's not my opinion, I read that in a book named Absolutely Don't Study English, written by a Korean. I really agree with him/her(I've no idea about the gender).

Absolutely don't study English #4 (permalink) Wed Feb 15, 2006 20:03 pm   Absolutely don't study English

Hello again rEDgHOST,

The Internet is an exciting thing, isn't it? It enables us to share ideas although we are worlds apart. I've checked out the English version of your university's website trying to find some information on the campus life. Can you tell me more it? What is it like being a student in Beijing? Also, I'm impressed by your English. Where did you learn the language? And what about the TOEIC? How did you find about this exam and where are you going to take it? As for English/English dictionaries - you are right. Reading definitions of new words in English is much better than merely looking up translations.
I did some research on the book you mentioned and found a Chinese website is promoting Absolutely Don't Study English. Juding by the description of the book it contains some very useful information - advice on how to learn English within trying to cram grammar rules into your head. How did you learn about the book? Did a friend of yours tell you to read it?
Talk to you soon,
Torsten

PS: What does 'IC' in 'IC engine' stand for?
