Topic: Some people think that automobile has improved modern life. Others think that automobile has caused serious problems. What is your opinion? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Response:

In this modern life, automobile is one of the most important and popular means of transportation in the world. Although it brings us a lot of convenience such as high speed, capacity of carrying things, automobile also gives us a lot of serious problems. In my opinion, I, for several reasons, agree that there are a lot of undesirable consequences caused by automobile.

First of all, it is the reason for many accidents. It is said that highway accidents rate increases rapidly in developed countries which has high density of cars. Each year, there are approximately 10,000 fatalities in my country. Furthermore, the social and economic cost is uncountable. The Government has tried their best and use a lot of money to improve the highway and transportation facilities but it seems to be frustrated because of increasing accidents caused by growing up use of automobile.

Secondly, our environment is seriously polluted. When a car is running, it releases a large amount of smoke and exhausted fumes such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide which is harmful to our environment. According to WWF, the carbon dioxide rate in the air for now is 400/ppm while the safe rate is 350/ppm. It means that the environment is destroyed seriously and this can contribute a lot to terrible problems for human life such as greenhouse effect, global climate change.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that automobile creates a lot of terrible consequences for our life. If we do not want to destroy our Earth, we would have to protect the environment with decreasing the increasingly use of automobile.
