Hi, my name is Lisa. I graduated from Yale University with a perfect score on my SAT, and have tutored the SAT for over 5 years in the United States. All my students to date have improved their SAT scores by an average of 240 points overall, with an average increase of 130 points per target section (please ask for references!) Most have been accepted to their top choice schools, including many top Ivy League schools (Harvard, Yale, Princeton).
As an international student who did not grow up in the United States, I fully understand how daunting the SAT can be. Do not worry. The test is very simple when you know all its tricks. I have designed simple tricks to solve every problem on the SAT, with special emphasis on writing and critical reading. There are grammar rules that even most American students do not know. My lessons are the most efficient and effective way to improve your scores. Barring careless errors, anyone can also achieve a perfect score. All math questions can be solved in 2 lines of work and in under 30 seconds; all writing questions will be covered by a comprehensive grammar lesson, and reading questions give coded clues as to where to find the answer in the passages. The essay is graded on a simple rubric, and I use a memory game to teach vocabulary effortlessly.
The ideal test prep time frame is 3 months (12 lessons, 12 full length practice tests). My current rate is $80/hour for one on one tutoring over Skype for international students; $120/hour for one on one tutoring for local New York city students.
