--What's through in the following sentence? Is it an adjective or an adverb or a preposition?

Keeping sequencing separate from content allows for individual learners to be directed toward individually responsive paths through the program.

It's a preposition indicating the direction taken from the beginning to the end of the activity.
For example:
They worked through the program systematically. = They worked in an ordered way from the beginning to the end of the program.

Other examples
The man sat through the concert even though he didn't really enjoy it.
He is not expected to survive through the night.
I'm halfway through (= reading) her book
.
