Hi, Alan and Torsten

I feel uneasy as I was advised that I was using inappropriate wording to communicate with my customers and they may have got angry about my tone , however I didn't realize where the problem is, would you please point out where I was wrong ? and what is the better way to express under the the situation when buyer wanted to reduce or cancel the order that has been confirmed a month ago? I copied a part of the conversation for your reference, thks in advance.

We marvel that how ABC could ask a 60% reduction by this way ! obviously they don't want this order at all .]

Hi Pauline,

I would suggest something along these lines:

Both of us have worked very hard to get these orders, haven't we? I think it would be a great pity now if all our efforts were to go down the drain, so to speak. What are your feelings about all this?

Alan

Hi, Alan

Thank you for the sugguestions.

I just wonder if " marvel " is a negative word ? does it imply offensive or harsh feelings ? you know we are in different language and culture, I do not quite understand the perception and experience when using some words like "marvel ", if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you one more question, If you were my customer, how would you react to the remarks below ? sorry I have an inquisitive and analytical mind, I like to ask how any why as a kid.

B.Regards
Pauline Lee
